Sustainability and the Evolving Role of EHSQ Professionals

Consumers, communities, governments, investors, Boards of Directors, employees, and more are applying increasing pressures to companies to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. In fact, your company's brand and financial performance is increasingly tied to clearly profiling KPIs that demonstrate your company is committed to healthy, safe, and sustainable work practices. And increasingly, EHSQ professionals are mandated to provide evidence to support these. In this session, you will learn the most crucial metrics that you can and should report on, and how your Intelex system already has the ability to provide you with a Sustainability Performance Indicator dashboard to deliver the KPIs in a centralized view so you can monitor, report, and act on the areas that can impact your brand and sustainability programs the most.

The Future Of EHSQ: Convergence, Controls And Curves

David Metcalfe, CEO, Verdantix

Whilst many EHSQ leaders recognize that current management systems are locked in the past there is a lack of proven frameworks that could move EHSQ in a new direction. But a new approach to EHSQ management is emerging. Digital technology is already driving deeper convergence between EHSQ processes and other functions. It’s also moving EHSQ decision-making away from a compliance mindset based on historic data towards a risk control mindset that exploits real-time information. EHSQ function leaders and professionals now need to figure what their evolutionary curve looks like. Can you cope with a steep curve that rapidly moves away from the old mindset or will you pursue a shallow curve where you evolve your approach and your career more slowly?

This results in data that is easy to analyze and compare. A relation might look and feel like a lookup to the front-end user but allows for a more complex relationship to be formed in the System. The result is an object field that allows users to select and capture data that is stored in another object in the system. In a fast-changing world, it is paramount to data integrity that the options we give our users align with what they need and that values that are no longer required be removed so they are not selected in error. Application Configuration – Business Rules, Action Handlers, View Actions (2 hours)

Have you ever handed out a paper-based Incident Report only to have it returned to you, completed in a way you didn’t expect? Where witness statements are captured in the future or the date of treatment is before the Incident? Do you get feedback from your users that form completion takes too long or that there are too many unnecessary fields on screen? This interactive session provides you with the building blocks to add a layer of validation to mitigate unintended data inputs in the form of Business Rules, to enhance automation in the form of Action Handlers, and to clean up the number of fields on the screen so the user only needs to complete those that are relevant to that entry in the form of View Actions.

    Notifications (2 hours)

Email notifications are the link between your EHSQ system and your users; you can use them to let users know what they need to do and when it is due, and let supervisors know what their staff are supposed to be doing or what’s late, and finally, alert managers and inspectors when serious exception events have occurred. This interactive session will provide you with the building blocks to create and maintain notifications in your Intelex System. You will then explore how to trigger that notification when a user is assigned a task or use it as a reminder and attach it to a schedule.

Data Use Plan: Using your Data to Drive Improvement

It’s easy to collect data, but acting on that important observation intelligence will make differences in peoples’ lives. This session will focus on creating value from your data through our Data Use Plan. Without communicating how our data is making a difference, the credibility of our process may suffer and “pencil whipping” may occur. We will discuss a process for identifying who needs the information and how it is best communicated and followed up on.
